Support After Suicide is a Victorian based program of Jesuit Social Services. Any reference in this policy to Support After Suicide is reference to Jesuit Social Services and vice versa.
The purpose of our privacy policy is to inform you of the kind of information we may gather about you when you visit the Support After Suicide Hub (SASH) website and forum and when you agree to join our mailing list. The policy also explains how we may use that information, whether we disclose it to anyone, and the choices you have regarding our use of and your ability to correct this information.
Please be aware that this policy applies only to the SASH website and forum produced by Jesuit Social Services and not to other companies’ or organisations’ websites to which our website is linked.
When you visit our websites, our Internet service provider makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes – the user’s server address, the user’s top-level domain name (eg: .com, .gov, .au etc.), the date and time of visit to the site, the pages accessed and documents downloaded, the previous site visited and the type of browser used. No attempt will be made to identify you or your browsing activity from this data except in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may produce a warrant to inspect our ISP’s logs.
What personal information do we collect?
The only personal information retained by Jesuit Social Services is that which you have directly provided to us, for example when you register with the SASH forum or when you add information to your SASH forum profile. This may include, with your consent, your name, email address, telephone number or postal address. How much of your personal information that you choose to disclose to us is completely up to you.
What do we use your information for?
Support After Suicide will only use the anonymous information we gather from your use of the Support After Suicide hub website in the aggregate. Support After Suicide may publish or provide this aggregate data to other people.
Any personal information you submit or send us electronically will be stored in our database and may be used by us to inform you of our services. We will not share this information with any organisation or person outside Jesuit Social Services unless you have authorised us to do so.
Information provided in the SASH forum may be used in one of the following ways:
- To improve the SASH forum — your information and feedback helps us to respond to your requests and support needs more effectively.
- To send periodic emails — The email address you provide may be used to send you information, notifications that you request about changes to topics or in response to your username, respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions.
How do we protect your information?
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you enter, submit, or access your personal information.
Do we disclose any information to outside parties?
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our site, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law. Under no circumstances will we sell or receive payment for licensing or disclosing your personal information.

Any information you provide will be kept confidential unless there is a serious concern for your safety or the safety of others. In this situation, we may need to contact help to ensure your safety or the safety of others. We will make every effort to work with you during this process.
